Dan's the man (who invented Christmas).
Released just last year (on a very limited release in cinemas) and based on the book of the same name by Les Standiford, this film brings a new twist to the much loved Christmas Carol story, and probably isn't something a lot of people have seen yet.
Dan Stevens plays Charles Dickens, as he battles with bringing A Christmas Carol to life. This plays alongside Christopher Plummer, who steps into the shoes of an omniscient Scrooge as he torments Dickens, while also making him confront the ghosts of his own past.
I adore Dan Stevens (who doesn't?) and, as ever, he pours everything he has into his performance. This one's more of a grown-up version of the classic tale - it's an intriguing look into Charles Dickens's own life, exploring what his childhood may have been like.
Justin Edwards (The Thick of It) plays John Forster, who was known to be Charles Dickens's real-life best friend. The pair share a nice chemistry as they battle to raise funds to get A Christmas Carol published in time for Christmas.
I have a feeling that, as the years go by, this film will make its way onto TV and it will become more and more popular. But why not get ahead of the game and give it a watch right now?
